Apple quietly launched a one-on-one college mentorship program
- Bostonian 6y ago"The document invites immigrant college freshmen and sophomores who are majoring in finance, economics, accounting or a discipline related to business, mathematics, commerce or data analytics to apply for the chance to get one one-on-one time with Apple mentors." It is unpatriotic for an American company to actively discriminate against American citizens in this way.
- steve_adams_86 6y agoThis is inclusivity, not exclusivity. The only form of discrimination is that of differentiation with the intention of ensuring a (perhaps underrepresented) group of people is aware they are welcome to participate. This seems more patriotic than not, given the origins of the United States of America.
- shishy 6y agoI wonder why it's based on immigrant status instead of socioeconomic status...while I agree with you, I can see how someone would interpret the current setup the same way the OP did. EDIT: NVM, see my other comment. Don't think it actually prohibited against immigrants... just the engadget language.

- shishy 6y agoSo I read the linked Apple PDF (not the Engadget article) [1] and it actually says that it's for first generation college students, which generally means "first person in the family to go to college", and after looking through it more closely, I don't see any language from Apple specifically prohibiting non-immigrants.
