- ss2003 6y agoTotally unethical but I've heard if you add a '.' after the '.com' one can view NYT's articles, like https://www.nytimes.com./2020/07/26/arts/television/johnny-carson-tonight-show.html https://www.nytimes.com./2020/07/26/arts/television/johnny-c...
- eximius 6y agoWhy would that be unethical?
- drewcoo 6y agoBecause it is your ethical duty to trade your privacy for puff pieces. The paper of record concurs.

- mc32 6y agoI think it’s unfair to judge people by current mores.[1] Johnny was an ‘old foggies’’ comedian. But got me the reason I saw him that way was partly due to “narrative”. If I had been in my own bubble without outside influence, I likely would not have seen him that way. That said, having seen him dress down Uri Gheller, he has my admiration. [1] He was not an exception in the US or in the world. There are comedians in the modern world whose society is more like the US in the 1970s in terms of social mores. I can see blaming them if they are aware of progress, but not if they are so imbued in local culture and customs that they know no better. Same for Carson back then. I think it’s forgivable. The same people complaining would very likely have behaved equivalently in that time.
