Can someone explain to me why “vertical” farms need to be vertical? Why not just use greenhouses, along with all of the AI/other technologies? Where are most of the productivity gains coming from?
- jelliclesfarm 6y agoIt’s actually an elegant idea. But there are some design flaws. CEA includes many ways to control environment for Ag...glasshouse, hoophouses, polyvtunnels, hydroponics, aeroponics, aquaponics.. Installing vertical farms at this scale is hubris. Even though it’s a good idea. This will never scale. VC logic fail. Also: no productivity gains. You heard it here first: no vertical farm is making a profit. And they never will.
