True, but it’s not perfect. Learners of English often don’t realize that they’re missing certain distinctions that their native language doesn’t make. Pig/pork is a common example. English has a lot of those.
- mannykannot 6y agoPoint taken. It has reminded me of a somewhat infamous phrasebook where, IIRC, the author simply applied a translation dictionary to phrases in his native tongue, without regard to these subtleties, or even of differences in grammar.
