How much energy is used to deliver and listen to radio?
- tpmx 6y agoSo did they consider the energy cost of replacing the listeners devices, or not? Edit: After skimming the actual report (https://downloads.bbc.co.uk/rd/pubs/whp/whp-pdf-files/WHP393.pdf https://downloads.bbc.co.uk/rd/pubs/whp/whp-pdf-files/WHP393...) the answer seems to be: nope.
- allears 6y agoMakes a good point that all those devices on standby (and all those wallwarts that stay plugged in) consume a non-trivial amount of energy.

I also remember from a recent tech conference that a BBC engineer noted that their total VOD infrastructure consumed the same power as 7 kettles running.
