Chat roulette is on the rise again, this time with AI
- xwdv 6y agoOmegle seems to try to mitigate issues with nudity be creating two different sections for users to choose: one for adult content and one for normal conversations. Seems somewhat effective.
- rembicilious 6y agoChatroulette seems to be using a similar method of seperation. From the article: It created a filtered channel, now known as Random Chat, designed to exclude nudity, alongside an Unmoderated channel. Strangely, they intend to discontinue the unfiltered section in the near future. The unfiltered channel remains popular, but usage is shrinking, and Ternovskiy plans to eliminate it by the middle of 2021. My gut feeling is that will just lead to mature content creators attempting to trick the filter, and I imagine they will be successful.
- echelon 6y agoChat roulette may be on the rise, but the clips I see on TikTok are all Omegle. Omegle might be doing even better.
- pidg 6y agoCame here to say this. Chatroulette added unnecessary 'features' that just introduced more friction into the experience (as it were). Which seems to have meant users gravitating to Omegle's bare bones (no pun intended) approach.
- rcdemski 6y ago“Not hotdog”
- Ternovskii-A 6y agoI am the founder - AMA. Nice to see it posted on the site I am reading every day. I am in need of professionals to help make the site better - thus I am hiring product managers, c-level executives, developers, designers. (back-end: functional scala, front-end: react/rxjs)
- panosfilianos 6y agoHey there, This was somewhat mentioned in other comments but I wonder why did you decide to invest such an effort on ML solutions whereas UX (splitting to filtered and unfiltered) seems to yield good results. Was it marketing?
- mellosouls 6y agoIt's very disappointing that Steve Kardynal's funny, risque but ultimately quite sweet Wrecking Ball, er, tribute gets no mention in this article. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6DmHGYy_xk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W6DmHGYy_xk
- brian-armstrong 6y agoI'm looking for someone to fund an Indian dessert cart/food truck idea I have. You pay a fixed amount and receive some dessert at random. And it's called Chaat Roulette.
- Fjolsvith 6y agoYears ago when espresso shops were starting to be the big thing, I though a great name for a chain of them would be "BRB".
- ALittleLight 6y ago"What will make Chatroulette 2.0 successful, says Ternovskiy, is creating incentives for all visitors to behave." Seems like it could be solved with ratings or karma. Get your social score up, that kind of thing.
- diveanon 6y agoSounds boring.
- ALittleLight 6y agoThe last time I used it I had a dozen people disconnect in a row without saying anything. That was pretty boring for me.
- AlexOrtiz201 6y agoNot a hot dog tech for filtering, lmao!
