It’s hard to understand the point of this.
> Surveillance video...captured the warning issuing from the RV, “... if you can hear this message, evacuate now,” seconds before the explosion.
So maybe it wasn’t about killing other people. The damage to AT&T probably won’t take too long to fix. Perhaps it was just a sad individual who no longer wanted to live, but why take this route?
- rasz 6y agoI read somewhere it might of been police on PA system. Cant wait to read couple years down the line a leak from FBI describing how they groomed someone to do this (as they regularly do) and things got out of their control. https://www.vice.com/en/article/ev974m/isis-fake-bomb-terrorist-fbi-sting-miami-synagogue https://www.vice.com/en/article/ev974m/isis-fake-bomb-terror... https://www.france24.com/en/20121018-new-york-bomb-plot-arrest-questions-fbi-sting-operations-undercover-bangladeshi-nafis https://www.france24.com/en/20121018-new-york-bomb-plot-arre... etc etc
- JoBrad 6y agoResidents near the area said the announcement was coming from the RV.
- AnHonestComment 6y ago“Too long” is relative. A few major exchange attacks seem like they could degrade communications in an area for 6-12mos. That’s concerning considering the potential for conflict in 1-3.

- tomatotomato37 6y agoIt's a weird enough way to go that a contrived murder plot to make the victim look like a suicide becomes an actual possibility
- mech422 6y agoAT&T doesn't mark their exchanges for exactly this reason... They have envisioned being a target for decades. Maybe the bomber just didn't know what they were doing? I was in NYC when the van full of explosives blew up in the WTC and basically just made a hole into the subway tunnel below. Had the bombers known where to park it, it could have done MUCH more damage.
- aaron-santos 6y agoNot disagreeing, but want to add that while AT&T may not mark their exchanges, their exchanges aren't exactly hard to spot. There are several characteristics which identify them easily. Anyone who's had one or two pointed out to them could find similar exchange in thousands of other cities.
- mech422 6y agoTrue...but that supposes the bomber is more competent then they seemed to be... McVeigh caused a lot more damage with presumably a lot less explosive (van vs. RV) Thank god they got the timer right, and hopefully everyone got out.
