Show HN: Twitch controls Minecraft
- tester756 6y ago>Twitch Controls Minecraft is a Minecraft mod that lets your chat vote to make things happen in your Off-topic, but who was very first to this "let's allow chat to do stuff" thing? porn industry?
- davish 6y agoThe meme on Twitch started with Twitch Plays Pokemon[0], which went viral back in 2014. [0]: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twitch_Plays_Pok%C3%A9mon https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twitch_Plays_Pok%C3%A9mon
- corytheboyd 6y agoThis is the first one on twitch I remember as well
- lethologica 6y agoI can’t believe that was 6 years ago already. Time flies.
- notretarded 6y agoCam-girls (not nesc live streamed) on IRC, so yes
- braydo25 6y agoHey! I think it was twitch plays pokemon
- ethbr0 6y ago> porn industry? 1997, afaik.
- CamperBob2 6y agoSomething that should have caught on, but for some reason didn't: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Subservient_Chicken https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Subservient_Chicken
- linux2647 6y agoIs there a live stream of this? I found a link in the README but it seems broken
- braydo25 6y agoAh! Let me fix that
- braydo25 6y agoAlso, for anyone reading this curious how this works and what it can do.. Check out the commands.js file in the repo (https://github.com/braydo25/TwitchControlsMinecraft/blob/master/config/commands.js https://github.com/braydo25/TwitchControlsMinecraft/blob/mas...) This has a list of the different command types presented for voting. Each command type has a set of options that are randomly selected each time a voting round starts. Whatever gets the most votes at the end of a voting round, that command gets injected into the server via Spigot and runs in the minecraft world causing whatever was voted to happen.
- sitzkrieg 6y agoI did something like this in 2016 for chips challenge and after one day of a few people poking with it it wholely flopped. But I think that game is probably a perfect format as well
- echelon 6y agoThe stream links are all broken. I'd love to see what this looks like. Also, do you have a Twitter? I want to follow your development as I'm working on something similar (non-Minecraft).
- fwip 6y agoHave you considered making this a twitch extension? That would allow users to click stuff on screen instead of (or in addition to) typing.
