While Congress Squabbles over $2k, They Packed the Stimulus Bill with Pork
- fennecfoxen 6y agoThis matter is well known and relevant to all in the US but only marginally relevant to technology matters. Discussion of the squabble and the pork as a whole is likely to bring contention and strife, not productive discourse. I respectfully ask for you to flag this important story as ill-suited for discussion on our site.
- jvanderbot 6y agoThis article was particularly bad. It treated ongoing foreign aid payments as somehow new and introduced in this bill. It's an omnibus bill because we need to pass something to keep gov programs going until we can do it all again in a few months.
- gelert 6y agoI would respectfully disagree. I think highlighting another instance of how convoluted and dysfunctional a lot of American legislation has become is quite revevant to technology particularly as large tech firms have come under increasing scrutiny for potential monopolistic behaviour. This is the government that could play a large role in shaping how technology and the internet evolve. I definitely agree that issues like this can quite easily lead to rabble rousing but I definitely think it can be relevant.
