The piece values are quite interesting, N=320, B=330 for example is a good heuristic to compensate lack of better knowledge. However be aware that there are contradictions:
B > N, but.
Q + B < Q + N
Queens just work better with knights.
- Oreb 6y agoFor what it’s worth, John Watson, in his book Modern Chess Strategy, lists the Q+N > Q+B thing as a belief that used to be common in the past, but is proven wrong by modern practice. I’m not nearly strong enough to have an opinion on the matter myself.
