EU Opinion: Abusive Torrent Trolls Should Be Denied Access to Subscriber Data
- 0dayz 6y agoA bit surprised Denmark's courts allowed ip addresses to be transferred. Honestly though I wish 'pirate' didn't have such a broad definition. Essentially there should be a big distinction between pirate and seeder/leecher, where one is actively selling stolen goods and the other just consumes shared goods.
- Arnt 6y agoThis makes sense. AIUI the opinion says: Although EU law affords media rights holders additional rights to protect their businesses, this company doesn't have a business model other than using those additional rights, therefore the company has nothing that the additional rights would protect, therefore it doesn't have the additional rights. One may have different opinions on those additional rights etc. That's orthogonal to this opinion.
