Question: do apple devices support favicon.ico (the old style one, a single file named favicon.ico, no pngs or json or anything else). Or do they ignore it?
I tried to search the answer online but all results were articles about the png ones instead. Thanks!
- judge2020 6y agoSee the caniuse for PNG favicons. Note 2 describes the behaviour tied to safari/webkit: https://caniuse.com/link-icon-png https://caniuse.com/link-icon-png > 2If both ICO and PNG are available, will ALWAYS use ICO file, regardless of sizes set. So it should support regular ICO regardless of png/svg existence.
- Aardwolf 6y agoThanks for the link! It says for ios safari: > Does not use favicons at all (but may have alternative for bookmarks, etc.). So that means no, doesn't it?
