Earlier than that, the PDA/smartphone market (e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPAQ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IPAQ ) was ARM a decade before, and the iPhone was in 2007.
I believe MIPS CPUs were in laser printers etc, but out of the mobile market, except for the occasional laptop.
- kjs3 6y agoMIPS was used heavily in networking, and to an extent still is. Cisco was notably fond of them.
