Theres always been some level of astroturfing going on here, which seems pretty much unavoidable. HN has a very unique and in more than one way influential audience, so it's a relevant platform for lots of groups who want to push their agenda and whatnot.
But what exactly are your observations? Two trends I observed this year: for a while, every other post was a link to the nytimes, and now we've seen M1-related threads on the frontpage every day (?) since the day of the announcement (I may be over-dramatizing here). Other than that, business as usual?
- DrNuke 6y ago2020 waves started with pretty innocent semi-politics posts aimed at discussing the impact of tech from a “biased” perspective, then it went on with Covid and semi-blatant xenophoby pointing fingers at entire countries. More recently, whatever irks a very thinly supposed neutrality, it just goes under without even trying to acknowledge its merit. 2020 has been a very bad year, surely one of the worst in the modern age, but are high level social platforms like HN just becoming another casualty? In case, is it casual or planned?
