I agree but still a good example that OP's statements are questionable.
- ceejayoz 6y agoNo, it's not. It's like saying smoking is good for you because there's this one 120 year old smoker. COVID misinformation is being tackled with specific manual attention because the algorithm was prioritizing it, and because it's receiving fairly unique amounts of attention. Google's (and Facebook's and Twitter's) hands were forced here. They'd much rather be leaving it alone like they do with other conspiracy theories.
- rsynnott 6y agoWait, they're claiming that Youtube recommends a lot of conspiracy bullshit, which is pretty well documented. You're pointing out that Youtube bans one specific narrow type of conspiracy bullshit, which is true but irrelevant. I don't see how that makes their statements questionable.
- em500 6y agoNote that the article dates to June 2019, based on Chaslot's experiences from earlier years (which were probably still largely true when the article was written, but hard to check right now one way or another).
