Are you sure the frequency is the problem? I’m living in an environment with lots of radio polution in a four story building built from concrete and rebar. I have 802.11ac wifi and I get at least 300Mbps in the worst place in my apartment. Other argument might be FPV video. There are quite a few youtube videos comparing analog video streams over 1.3 to 5.8 GHz. The difference is there but much less than I expected.
