It's good that they found a workaround, but how many Android 7 (from 2016) devices are still receiving security updates? If they were receiving updates, they could get updated CA certs... they're running an OS with hundreds of known, documented ways to take it over. Just look at the monthly security bulletins, in Nov 2020 alone several Remote Code Execution flaws found https://source.android.com/security/bulletin https://source.android.com/security/bulletin Solarwinds shows us eventually it will become clear this lax attitude is a National Security issue for each country...
