I don’t see why delaying an IPO until you “capture more value privately” somehow minimizes the pop. Obviously that didn’t happen with Airbnb or DoorDash which were both pretty late stage at this point. Don’t think it has anything to do with that.

you're right... misread on my part. the point was more to do with the founders/employees being able to grow the value of their ownership stake longer privately.

  a primary direct listing doesn’t change that calculus if that’s what you’re optimizing for.
