The USA has a massive democratic deficit for want of a better term. It's not unique in that, but this kind of ridiculous way of passing harmful stuff attached to more important legislation and how corporations with deep pockets wield so much power in terms of influencing legislation and its passage, it takes away transparency and it takes away the power of the individual citizens which surely a democracy must always seek to uphold. But, you know, welcome to the club, because we have a massive issue with a lack of democracy in the UK too.
