Amidst a global pandemic and economic recession, this draconian copyright law gets stuffed into the rear end of our public relief bill? I think this is some smelly bullsh*t
We must remember that copyrights were meant to expire; the system was made to create a rich and robust public domain from which American citizens could tap into for art, inspiration and culture.
- lazulicurio 6y agoTo be slightly more accurate, the public relief got stuffed into the rear end of an end-of-year omnibus spending bill. The CASE act provisions also happened to be stuffed into the bill, along with many other things. The resulting bill was over 5,000 pages.
- bigphishy 6y agoThis is slightly more acceptable, thanks for the clarification.
- sthnblllII 6y agoI don't think that's more accurate because it fails to make the substantive distinction between these two provisions. One of them has huge public support and has been debated publicly for months and shot down repeatedly by congressional leadership while the other was written by a Disney lobbyist in secret and revealed at the last possible moment before the grassroots could mount a response.
