- ChrisMarshallNY 6y agoYes. Only the upper-end cameras were produced in Japan, as well as the top-tier lenses.
- Lio 6y agoYep, I have a Nikon D300 from 2008ish, that was Nikon's pro-sumer model at the time. It's very well made and still works well but made in Thailand rather than Japan.
- numpad0 6y agoYeah, I wonder which ones they are still manufacturing in the country. Could this mean the last guy who was assembling film F6 in a repair facility somewhere is finally retiring?
- mikece 6y agoI had a D70 -- my first digital SLR! -- and I recall the giddiness of getting my first "Made in Japan" Nikon dSLR (the D200 iirc). There was always a sense of "Yes, the stuff from Thai factory is still equal to being a Nikon, but 'Made in Japan Nikon' was more equal" but that was mainly because the professional bodies and best glass were only made in Japan.
