My father would play Vince Guaraldi's soundtrack for ACBC every fall and winter°, on his big tower speakers that were older than I was, loud enough to be heard around whatever house we happened to be living in at the time. Subsequently, I cannot imagine the holiday season without Charlie Brown (or at least the music). My first year out of college, I didn't have a tree and there was no family home anymore, but I was able to pull this up on YouTube and feel the spirit for a moment.
°The title is a misnomer as it includes a couple of tracks from the Halloween and Thanksgiving specials, including the wistful, haunting Great Pumpkin Waltz
- nighthawk454 6y agoI was surprised to read that the ACBC soundtrack contained non-christmas-special tracks, as I never remembered that. According to wikipedia the tracks you mentioned are bonus tracks on the 2012 CD release. - bsanr2 6y agoI'm surprised, I distinctly remember The Great Pumpkin Waltz being on the CD we had, which goes back at least to 2000.
- wkearney99 6y agoOne of my favorite piano pieces is Guaraldi's Linus & Lucy. Enough that my kid took to effort at 8 to learn to play it on the piano for me. Took real reach to get his fingers to play it smoothly.
