If the counterfeit shoe fits...
Although it is interesting that you use Tetris as an example. Communist Russia appropriated Tetris from its creator, and he didn’t see any financial benefit until the USSR dissolved.

- spijdar 6y agoI won't pretend to be an expert or even that familiar with Tetris, but from what I know, this is kind of disingenuous. Yes, the USSR and its communist policies meant Pajitnov didn't own his work, and it probably contributed to his being left out in the cold while western countries profited from his idea, but I don't think the USSR actually prevented him from getting paid. That's more him getting screwed over by his business contacts. The USSR definitely didn't help, and if he had IP protection maybe he could have gotten control back, but even then, I kind of doubt it.
- Hnrobert42 6y agoAll the sources I can find point to the USSR government saying, “This is ours now.” [1] Regardless, I genuinely just offered up the nugget about Tetris because I thought it was interesting. I didn’t mean that the USSR’s bad acts were similar to the CCP’s policies. The CCP doesn’t steal from its own people so much as it steals from the rest of the world. That said, the imminent nationalization of parts of the Ant Group may round things out. 1 -https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/03/feature_the_tragic_story_behind_the_man_who_helped_create_tetris https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/03/feature_the_tragic...
