U of Texas will stop using controversial algorithm to evaluate PhD applicants
- HarryHirsch 6y agoGood Lord. So the algorithm was let loose on letters of recommendation, and gave points for words like "excellent" and less points for words like "good". It sounds like a superb tool to penalize students from countries where they detest hype. And then they have the front to ask how many BIPOCs lost a spot in the CS PhD program at Austin. I'm sick to the gills of the BIPOC crap, when it's more likely that that algorithm affected Germans and Russians.
