Posenet Fruit Ninja in the Browser (Tensorflow.js and Posenet)
- liuxiaopai 6y agoPlay fruit ninja game play by waving your hands in the web browser. We use web camera to detected your pose, then you can control the game just wave your hands. Of course, you need standing in front of the camera. Wave your hands. Wave your hands. Wave your hands. Have fun!
- bichiliad 6y agoThis is a lot of fun! The latency leaves something to be desired, but it's really cool to see this sort of thing in the browser at all.
- dannyw 6y agoSooo much fun! It's clear that browser ML still needs a bit of work, but I had lots of fun and was smiling throughout :)
- Hnrobert42 6y agoBig surprise to see wholesale theft of intellectual property committed by a Chinese actor.
- mattnewton 6y agoWould you say this about every college kid that makes tetris as a learning exercise? Is it helpful to jump to national stereotypes in this discussion? It's a github link, wiring an open source model to be used as a controller to an html 5 game.
- Hnrobert42 6y agoIf the counterfeit shoe fits... Although it is interesting that you use Tetris as an example. Communist Russia appropriated Tetris from its creator, and he didn’t see any financial benefit until the USSR dissolved.
- mattnewton 6y agos/tetris/doom then, or space invaders, or pac man.
- spijdar 6y agoI won't pretend to be an expert or even that familiar with Tetris, but from what I know, this is kind of disingenuous. Yes, the USSR and its communist policies meant Pajitnov didn't own his work, and it probably contributed to his being left out in the cold while western countries profited from his idea, but I don't think the USSR actually prevented him from getting paid. That's more him getting screwed over by his business contacts. The USSR definitely didn't help, and if he had IP protection maybe he could have gotten control back, but even then, I kind of doubt it.
- Hnrobert42 6y agoAll the sources I can find point to the USSR government saying, “This is ours now.” [1] Regardless, I genuinely just offered up the nugget about Tetris because I thought it was interesting. I didn’t mean that the USSR’s bad acts were similar to the CCP’s policies. The CCP doesn’t steal from its own people so much as it steals from the rest of the world. That said, the imminent nationalization of parts of the Ant Group may round things out. 1 -https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/03/feature_the_tragic_story_behind_the_man_who_helped_create_tetris https://www.nintendolife.com/news/2018/03/feature_the_tragic...
- thih9 6y agoIsn’t this a proof of concept toy? Would you also criticise people who run Id Software’s Doom on uncommon hardware?
- chris_wot 6y agoDoom was released to the general public in 1997. Are you saying Fruit Ninja’s code and assets have been similarly released?
- thih9 6y ago> Doom was released to the general public in 1997. "Doom is still a licensed game and the only way to legally play it is by paying for and downloading the game”, source: https://www.lifewire.com/original-doom-free-download-812146 https://www.lifewire.com/original-doom-free-download-812146
- willswire 6y agoCareful on this site - visiting from Safari on iPhone, and an iOS pop up asked to approve camera permissions
- spijdar 6y agoWell yes, because it's fruit ninja that uses your camera and posenet to translate your movements into fruit-ninja-action. Hard to do that without camera access :^)
- bstar77 6y agoVery nice and well executed. One suggestion if the dev is watching, there needs to be some logic to prevent a fruit and bomb overlapping each other entirely making cutting the fruit impossible. I don't remember having this issue with the original game.
