I'm a huge AMD fan. Been waiting all year for my dream Ryzen laptop but just given in to a MacBook Air M1.
I have no regrets, but this gives me hope that a true Ryzen ultrabook might exist next year, now that the industry have to take AMD seriously. I will sell my MacBook in a heartbeat if that happens.
- carlmr 6y agoI'm in the same boat and debating waiting another year or going for the M1. I really don't like Apple's other policies though.
- cjdell 6y agoThe plus is Apple hardware has low depreciation so it might worth getting the M1 if you're a dev and appreciate rapid compile times. My webpack build times are less than half the 7700HQ that I was using which makes me way more productive. Also just got a nice Ubuntu VM going last night using vftool. :-)
- kelchm 6y agoAbsolutely this — I’ve had several MacBooks that ended up costing me less than $150 per year after I upgraded and resold them years later.
