What is the chance this particular strain has been manually engineered?
- dm319 6y agoHighly unlikely. You overestimate our ability to genetically edit things and predict what the outcome will be. The virus is mutating at a rate of about one mutation/month - that's fairly standard.
- rolph 6y agoeven if, the virus was engineered, the mutation rate would incur deviation from the engineered character, at the same rate as we are seeing with this naturally occuring virus. An engineered SARS would quickly be subject to selection.
