The FTC Can Do More Than Sue Tech Companies. It Can Regulate Them
- mgh2 6y agoI often wonder if it is the government's role to protect the people or let them run amok so they can profit from their crimes - taxing, suing, jailing, etc. All the while gov officials, politicians and employees enjoy good pay, benefits, stability, and collect pensions while having an inefficient work ethic and an easy life. Suspicion: Pandemic, economic slowdown, stimulus? Easy, sue all tech companies (only flourishing industry) to make those losses back - timing is too coincidental
- ece 6y agoTech is probably as good a scapegoat as anyone in government is going to get right now, but I think a lot of the anti-trust issues have been building for a while now. The lack of regulation is painful to see. Amazon Prime Video not working with Chromecast? A letter from the FTC could fix that among many other such squabbles, all the way up to real anti-trust problems that have been ignored for too long. A privacy law would do wonders if congress ever got it's Tech-act together.
