The whole problem with current journalism is its desire to influence instead of objectively report. This whole article is about the struggles of creating a fan base and the potential pitfalls of relying on tech platforms. Journalism has become more about becoming a celebrity personality. The story has become the opinion, everything is an editorial, and you have to mine multiple sources just to get a full story and who has time for that? The author has said the quiet part out loud. They are part of the celebrity class whose opinions should be treated as such.
- CapitalistCartr 6y agoBut what if, in the Twenty-first Century, there's not sufficient market for responsible, objective journalism. (Those adjectives should be redundant.)
- brodouevencode 6y agoI think there is, but for the past 30(?) years or so editorials have masked themselves as journalists. Hence why we get "well it was on Fox News/CNN so it must be true". Digging that market out of the ashes will be a tremendous feat and I applaud anyone who even attempts to do it in an honest way.
