- rolph 6y ago...and that reaction was anaphylaxis, and was mitigated with ephinephrine, antihistamines, and steroids. this person is doing fine now, but is guarded from 2nd dosage. https://www.adn.com/alaska-news/2020/12/16/alaska-healthcare-worker-hospitalized-after-receiving-covid-19-vaccine/ https://www.adn.com/alaska-news/2020/12/16/alaska-healthcare...
- tempsy 6y agosure...but this person had the fortune of being in a hospital setting. if the distribution channel for most people is going to be at a CVS or Walmart or in a school will they be prepared for these sort of scenarios?
- rolph 6y agothe vaccine is administered in a setting where intervention and physician oversight is available, the current observation span post innoculum is 30 minutes, preexisting alleries are contraindicative, and known history of anaphalaxis is disqualifying. Polyethylene Glycol [P.E.G] is the major suspect and has been looked at sideways for some time. PEG is used to stabilize the vesicular vehicle for the vaccine, and could be substituted, if we want to start from square one. CVS or Walmart is not the place to be giving out this vaccine unless these criterion mentioned can be assured.
- tempsy 6y agoPeople are going to eventually be receiving vaccine doses at a CVS and Walmart though from what I understand. Not everyone is going to be expected to go to a hospital to get it.

- tempsy 6y agothe article simply states they are recommendations not requirements.
- rolph 6y agorecommendation in the context of medicine is very different than the colloquial definition. a physician has professional lattitude regarding professional recommendations. These recomendations change dependent on observations, as is the case, first recommendation WAS 15 minutes observation , and has been modified to 30 minutes as a direct response to these reported incidents of adverse reaction. Recommendations have plasticity to change ad hoc, whereas requirements are not immediately mutable. if someone is going to administer this vaccine with no attendance and/or no support, that is gross negligence, and borders on absolute malpractice.
