China will never experience a major financial crisis.
When one looms, they will start a pan-Asian war by invading Taiwan and the Himalayan watershed of India. Either they'll win and regain solvency with the spoils, or they'll lose and history will call it a war rather than a financial crisis.
- voisin 6y agoHow would the spoils help them regain solvency? I see their behaviour RE Taiwan and Nepal to be more about expanding their empire, but it is not immediately obvious to me what financial benefits exist. Taiwan has a good economy but it is doubtful they would if China invaded.
- octoberfranklin 6y agoControl the water supply and you control everything. Now you get tribute like the Qing did. It's not like TSMC can be picked up and moved somewhere else. The world economy has become addicted to TSMC, and it will pay the dealer's price. Certainly China can't run Taiwan any better. But the CCP has learned how not to "kill the golden goose" of capitalism as they crush democracy. They are the world experts at doing this. They will mangle Taiwanese society completely, but without significantly damaging its economy. Hong Kong is the practice round.
