I also want to know how much I am drinking - the mesh filter in my faucet catches a significant amount of visible flakes of plastic, ones big enough that that I can roll them between my fingers. I think it goes without saying there is a lot more in that water that I cannot see.
- tartrate 6y agoWhich country do you live in? I had never heard of this happening anywhere before.
- Fezzik 6y agoMedford, OR. USA. I’ve been here 2.5 years and my faucet clogged about 8 months after I moved in to the house... with blue plastic particles. They have continued to show-up in my faucet filters every since, so it was not a one off incident. I called the county and sent photos, but who knows if that did anything. I’m lucky in that I have always had additional filtration systems for everything I drink. Edit: Jackson County, OR.
- samus 6y agoYou might want to overthink whether you want to drink that water at all - if such big particles make it through the system, what else does too?
- Fezzik 6y agoPersonally, I filter all the water I drink after it leaves the tap where I currently live... most of the population can’t afford additional filtration or has no idea that it may even be necessary. That’s what infuriates me.
- andi999 6y agoExcept if you have very specialized filtration systems, I doubt this helps. The over the counter ones I am pretty sure do not.
- octoberfranklin 6y agoDon't drink tap water. If it goes in your mouth, it goes through reverse osmosis first. Just get used to the fact that your house needs two water supplies, the one you drink and the one you use to shower and flush your toilet. Human population has grown far too much for us to be able to keep the latter supply as clean as the former supply.
