I’ll take it because I don’t have much other choice. I know my current employer is going to be asking me to fly to 10+ cities this year because I’m “essential” and I don’t want to risk being asymptomatic and spreading it to my less-than-healthy parents.
- h3cate 6y agoSorry to tell you this but scientists are suggesting being vaccinated does not stop you from carrying and spreading the disease.
- elil17 6y agoScientists are suggesting that it will be somewhat less effective at preventing transmission and asymptomatic infection than it is at preventing symptomatic infection. From the New York Times: “Preventing severe disease is easiest, preventing mild disease is harder, and preventing all infections is the hardest,” said Deepta Bhattacharya, an immunologist at the University of Arizona. “If it’s 95 percent effective at preventing symptomatic disease, it’s going to be something less than that in preventing all infections, for sure.” Still, he and other experts said they were optimistic that the vaccines would suppress the virus enough even in the nose and throat to prevent immunized people from spreading it to others. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/08/health/covid-vaccine-mask.html https://www.nytimes.com/2020/12/08/health/covid-vaccine-mask...
- rolph 6y agowhen it comes to splitting hairs, it doesnt matter how immune you are, to any pathogen, you will ALWAYS get infected. if you have a fresh host of antibodies or a long term host of memory B cells you will prevent the virus from replicating to produce a morbidity or mortality. you have to get the virus in your body...then the immune system responds to it. as a fork you should be aware of the concept of becoming a vector in other words you get the virus on you then transfer it to someone else, no incubation required, just evasion of any cutaneous antibodies.
