I thought "error checking" was one of the most important & popular inventions of the 21 century in developer experience and so there is no way someone in 2020 does not automatically associate that term with what it stands for in other editors.

...so what is it? Linting? Syntax validation? I don't have any specific associations for "error checking" beyond the literal meaning of the words.
