While your comment on biases is correct, “sloppy” is a bit harsh; I would think of this as a best-effort attempt to reach out to the community through known popular channels. I’m sure there are tons of Emacs users who go about their work without a fuss who aren’t aware of doom-Emacs and don’t care about Emacs communities, so it’s hard to make a survey representative of “all” Emacs users. C’est la vie.
