Links involving MDMA, LSD, and shrooms often get upvoted to the top of HN. Is there anywhere to read the consensus on news, both legal and scientific, on what’s the current status of psychedelics and recreational drugs worldwide?
- circlevvaves 6y agoMaybe not the user experience you're intending, but the The Vaults of Erowid is a decent start.
- redisman 6y agoOne of the best and most unique web sites I've ever visited also. It's 90's classic internet but nothing has come along to do things it does better.
- piva00 6y agoOne of the most educative ones for drug users as well. Trip reports were always an interesting read, being aware of dosage and effects, reading from others' bad experiences to be avoided. Erowid is massively educational if you got any interest in psychedelics or mind-altering substances in general.
- maedla 6y agoReading that as a teenager is what got me interested in psychedelics in the first place. It's great.
- will_pseudonym 6y ago- MAPS (Multidisciplinary Association for Psychedelic Studies) https://maps.org/ https://maps.org/ - Johns Hopkins Center for Psychedelic & Consciousness Research https://hopkinspsychedelic.org/ https://hopkinspsychedelic.org/
- walrus01 6y agothe historical links between the sf bay area early technology/microcomputer scene, and recreational psychedelic substances are quite old... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_WELL https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_WELL there's a large venn diagram overlap between some of the earliest members there at the WELL (and, for instance, the people who founded burning man), and the california tech industry.

- therealx 6y agoAlso not on the scientific end, but if you search Reddit within specefic sub's dedicated toward the mental difficulties they are aiming to change, you'll find healthy discussion of the developments and personal experiances. Avoid /r/drugs and all those.
- raunakdag 6y agoAny specific subs you’d recommend? I enjoy /r/drugs occasionally because of the interesting stories that I can live vicariously through, but I’m interested in learning more.
- alexilliamson 6y agoThe book How To Change Your Mind has a great deal of the history and current state of the science.
- vmchale 6y agoPsychedelics are sometimes recreational but they can do more.
