I'd imagine some government friendly investor is already spinning up his own porn video site, or investing into competition.
- cmrdporcupine 6y ago15-20 years ago most video porn on line cost money. Now it's almost all "free" clips on these sites. I'm not an expert on the industry, but from the outside it looks to me like the pornhubs, xhamsters, xvideos, etc. of the world have been making money off content without charging for it by allowing arbitrary upload of mostly copyrighted content. Beyond the very dubious stuff that gets uploaded, there's bound to be boatloads of copyright violations as well. What's that saying? When the product is free you are the product? Something like that applies here.
- dismantlethesun 6y agoPornhub actually charges a subscription fee, pays actors/actresses, and owns a half dozen production companies. Sure they got to this position by allowing the free upload of copyrighted content, but they don't do it now because they're now part of the establishment that others try to disrupt.
