Show HN: A DIY particle detector kit developed at CERN
- kasbah 6y agoHey HN, this is a particle detector developer by my friend Oliver Keller for his PhD at CERN. I've put together some kits so you can more easily build one yourself. - scionthefly 6y agoThe kit is a nice idea. I have the parts to build the MIT Cosmic Watch, but have not put it together yet. I think there were two or three things left to source...and it ended up on the back of my bench, then on a shelf.
- lowkeynthorough 6y agoany tips for ALPHA detectors :)? Somehow, those are significantly harder to DIY than beta/gamma..
- kasbah 6y agoThe same PCB can be used to build an alpha spectrometer. This variant is a little harder to use correctly which is why we are not selling it as a kit yet. You can however use the links in the page to buy most of the required components from 3rd parties. https://kitspace.org/boards/github.com/ozel/diy_particle_detector/alpha-spectrometer/ https://kitspace.org/boards/github.com/ozel/diy_particle_det...
