- blahedo 6y agoWhich is why Chicago, Toronto, and other Great Lakes cities will be the booming metropolises of the late 21st century.
- eru 6y agoDo you expect water to become globally scarce?
- kortilla 6y agoThat compact will be wiped out by the federal government the minute things become dire.
- eru 6y agoWould you be willing to entertain a bet on that?
- kortilla 6y agoIt’s stupid to think otherwise . If it came to a matter of national hunger due to crop water shortages or drinking water shortages the federal government would use the military to dig a fucking canal across the country if they needed to.
- eru 6y agoFor minor crop water shortages, probably not. And drinking water shortages can't really occur: you could airlift water from Fiji and still have enough for everyone to drink. (Or more realistically and less flippant: the volumes involved for drinking water are so minuscule, that you wouldn't dig canals across the country. Just use a bunch of trucks.) In any case, for a bet we'd need to operationalize exactly what we mean, and what conditions would count. I am fairly sure that will hold for the next, eg, 50 years. Ie I am fairly sure that there won't be any circumstances that will make the governments involved break the compact. Willing to bet on that?
