The big issue with the unlock password being used for FDE is that the average user unlocks their phone many times/day, often in view of cameras. If I worked for a LEO and was asked to "crack" a locked phone, I would start by looking at surveillance footage from anywhere the suspect might have pulled their phone out of their pocket.
