Apropros of nothing, I had a conversation with a taxi driver in Boston circa 2014, he said he drove Ken Olsen (CEO of DEC) to the airport a few times. In his words, "he was very intelligent, but not very smart." In a much earlier encounter we had a couple of DEC engineers visit our small-to-medium-ish company in Canada to try to sell us on their technology. They basically defined the word supercilious, and we went with a different vendor.
