What Does 'Follow the Science' Mean, Anyway?
- phendrenad2 6y agoAh good, I'm not the only one who sees "Follow the science!" And "listen to the science!" as fallacious appeals to authority. "Science" isn't a unified body, it's a scattered, diverse hydra with many conflicting theories. Anything less is dogma. Trying to appeal to "the science" in fact requires you to choose someone to interpret the science and pick and choose what theories are valid. Usually the media does this when they write clickbait articles, taking science out of context, or taking the most extreme interpretation as reality.
