I agree that it seems like it's ripe for disruption. Time for another Digg (which was what reddit was supposed to be) -- maybe with a mobile-first user experience (reddit is trash on a phone).
- jack2222 6y agorather than digg, I'd like to see another stumbleupon
- lotsofpulp 6y agotiktok is sort of similar. Although much inferior, in my opinion.
- robswc 6y agoIts actually incredible how bad it is on mobile. Its like, unusable... I'm amazed that the video player still only seems to work half the time.
- ObsoleteNerd 6y agoNever works for me at all, and most animated GIFs don’t animate either. It takes a special type of effort to make video NOT work on modern web browsers.
- fizx 6y agoWhich platform?
- ObsoleteNerd 6y agoSafari on iOS. Reddit is basically unusable without an account via web.
- fizx 6y agoWhich platform?
- robswc 6y agoiphone, web. I guess that's not the app but still. Works half the time on PC, half the time on web
- robswc 6y agojust checked it again, seems a lot smoother, maybe its been fixed. I just remember videos would just have a black screen, wouldn't load at all. maybe now with elections over the front page won't be 50% politics and I can get back to looking at cool stuff lol
- vinay427 6y agoNot the person you're replying to, but this happens to me on Chromium-based browsers and Firefox on Android 11. There are sometimes slightly different issues for each browser, but the UI is unusably slow on both. It at least helped starve my Reddit usage when that became a concern for me.
