As a kid it seemed like I got sick a lot (as perhaps many kids do) and I became a germaphobe. Now, as an adult, I am/was traveling semi-frequently, I don't really think twice about touching things in public, washing my hands, eating food off the floor, etc, and I am basically never sick. COVID has changed my habits, naturally, and perhaps I unknowingly kept habits that limit my exposure.
I'd be interested to know how different levels of quarantine impact someone's infection and illness rates separately; being a healthy carrier among a community of healthy carriers might be a good thing, as it indicates people are getting exposed to new pathogens at a safe gradient.
