There is this tried-and-true extension: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/decentraleyes/ https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/decentraleyes...
LocalCDN seems to be a fork of it, why should we be using it when it has so few users?
- mjevans 6y agoDecentraleyes is also Recommended by Mozilla, while the other is not.
- geokon 6y agoDoes Decentraleyes cache fonts? Last I looked into it (b/c this extension makes using the web less broken from China) they didn't cache fonts: https://github.com/Synzvato/decentraleyes/issues/34 https://github.com/Synzvato/decentraleyes/issues/34 However maybe the situation has changed since then..
- DavideNL 6y agoWhy? The development of Decentraleyes seems to have slowed down considerably, and LocalCDN supports more CDNs / frameworks, and is also opensource.
- rozab 6y agoI seem to remember some consternation not long ago when Decentraleyes reducing the amount of caching they do because it could be used for fingerprinting...? Can't find any reference to this on Google though
- landerwust 6y agoI tried LocalCDN after seeing a recommendation for it here, but despite claiming to cache more libraries it was very clearly not catching as many requests as DecentralEyes, which I'm back using now
- ffpip 6y agoDecentraleyes has very few resources compared to LocalCDN. It doesnt cache the important ones too. LocalCDN is also under active development, and the dev seems more pro-privacy.
