- sam1r 6y agoAgreed. Just more peeved that it upon registration, this would be the last exit I would have imagined from the product. The marketing to acquire users versus to keep them is annoyingly polarizing. >> Hey! Free growing memory. Choose gmail! Look! A counter that is incrementing in the browser real-time! >> Much later... Nope. You reached the limit + we stopped your emails from coming in. Goodbye. I'm definitely on the way out, just have been lazy about it.
- dash2 6y agoIt's not that easy. I have 15 years of emails, including deeply personal stuff. I've deleted all the unread mailing lists. I've deleted the big files. I've gone through numerous social and advertising emails and mass-deleted. Yet I'm stuck on like 14.98 Gb and every time I hit the threshold, Gmail starts bugging me to do more. How can I even tell if I have that much email? They could just be saying "oh, you have 14.98Gb".
- Kye 6y agoDid you empty the trash? Trash counts. Same for Drive.
- avtar 6y ago> How can I even tell if I have that much email? You could fetch everything using IMAP and check size locally.
- sneak 6y agoIf you have deeply personal stuff in your email box, you shouldn't be storing it unencrypted in gmail forever where they can give it to the state on demand without a warrant at any time.
- rasz 6y agoYou have deeply personal emails that are the size of 1/3 of whole Project Gutenberg library?
