Then you try to engage in a conversation about how this is not acceptable and people start doing the opposite of any sort of self reflection—trying to find scapegoats to blame. The message was clear, stop! The paper rubbed someone the wrong way. Go rewrite it on your own without any references to Google and publish it. I've been in tech for a long time. In nearly every org turnover was minimal on the engineering side of the house versus sales who dropped like flies every quarter. The only people who were ever laid off were those who routinely rocked the boat. Getting some sense of that here.
