There are no honest 8GB reviews. Gruber is selling 8GB Macs based on 16GB review units. This is the iPad 1 with 256MB all over again.

- whywhywhywhy 6y agoThe justification that 16GB is "enough" from the Apple blogger clique like Gruber is ridiculous. Even if it is "enough" it's still what my MacBook Pro I bought 6 years ago shipped with for several hundred dollars less than this one. Why are we giving Apple a pass on RAM being stuck at 8GB and SSD being stuck at 128GB (only very recently bumping to 256) for almost a decade. Not to mention some of us get stuck on 8GB 128GB machines because our workplaces only buy the base "Pro" machines, refusing the drop the extra few hundred to make it what Gruber considers the base level. SSDs are no longer expensive, go on Amazon and see how much 1TB M2s cost these days.
- saagarjha 6y agoIt’s enough for many of the people who actually buy Macs.
- machello13 6y agoIf you need more than 16GB just... buy one of the other MacBook Pros? I really don't see what the problem is.
- wmf 6y agoSome people wish they could get the performance of M1 and 32GB RAM and four Thunderbolt ports. They will get it eventually but it's a shame it's not available yet.
- jb1991 6y agoFor the vast majority of users (who are not developers or doing production video work, etc), 16 GB is plenty. That's why.
- whywhywhywhy 6y ago"Pro" machine isn't for the "vast majority of users" it's for people who are developers and do video production work.
- turtlebits 6y agoI've always gone cheap for personal use and the last 3 MacBooks Pros I've purchased were i3/i5 8GB models, and never have had perf/memory issues (even with 2 users logged in) Work provides i7/i9 with maxed out RAM and honestly don't see a night and day difference in performance.
