Is it worth losing people over such a small gain? This is a 5% saving on a likely negligible cost anyway...
This study wasn’t just a waste of time, it’s actually detrimental to an already hard battle convincing people they can have an impact.
- ppf 6y agoI'm not sure how they define "digital tech emissions", but the embodied energy of a newly manufactured laptop (approx. 1500 kWh, or one barrel of oil) will get you nearly 2,500 passenger jet miles (assuming 58 miles per gallon per revenue passenger). One of the most effective ways to cut your CO2 emissions (and practially every other form of unsustainable environmental damage) is to stop buying new electronics.
