I speculated that the US is likely to take very adverse actions against Bitcoin very soon. In the regime of waning manufacturing and trade deficits, US dollars will become increasingly the chief export of the American economy. Anything that is viewed by the policymakers a threat to this main export good, including Bitcoin, will be suppressed.
- panarky 6y agoIf policymakers didn't see Bitcoin as a threat, then that would mean that Bitcoin didn't work, or wasn't popular, or was just a niche curiosity for enthusiasts. The more actions they take to thwart Bitcoin, the more evidence that it's working as designed. So I say, bring it on.
- arcticbull 6y agoIt doesn't have to be a threat to the dollar to be a thorn in the side. The narco trade isn't a threat to the dollar and yet enforcement action is pretty regular. I wouldn't read too much into that.
